About GlobalSikhiWiki
Introduction
GlobalSikhiWiki is a living digital archive of the Sikh diaspora’s journey across continents—documenting how Sikhs migrated, settled, adapted, and thrived. Our goal is to tell these stories not as mere footnotes in global history, but as vibrant chapters of resilience, faith, and cultural preservation.
How This Concept Was Born
This initiative began with a personal passion—a retired baker with a love for history and philosophy—and a question: “Where did the Sikhs go, and how did they carry Sikhi with them?” What started as curiosity became a vision to connect scattered histories and bring them into one shared space.
What is GlobalSikhiWiki?
GlobalSikhiWiki is a community-driven knowledge platform tracing Sikh migration from Punjab to the world. We organize content by continents and countries, highlighting key timelines, cultural shifts, institutions, and contributions of Sikhs in each region. It’s an open platform—anyone can write, improve, or add what they know.
Why a Wiki?
Because no single person knows the whole story. A wiki allows collective memory to grow, evolve, and correct itself. By inviting global participation, we empower communities to preserve their own histories—from Kenya to Canada, Malaysia to the UK.
Our Vision for the Future
We envision a living library of Sikh migration—used by researchers, students, travelers, and spiritual seekers. We want every Sikh settlement, gurdwara, journey, and cultural shift to be remembered and accessible to future generations.
Our Guiding Principles
No fear. Jump in and contribute. You can write, edit, review, delete—whatever makes sense to you.
Trust. We build trust by honoring each other's work. Trust the process. Even if you think your input is small, let the community decide its value.
Be graceful. GlobalSikhiWiki is for ideas, insights, realizations, and inspirations. It’s not a space for personal agendas or attacks. We are here to remember, not to divide.
